Imagine this, a demented man dressed like a clown escapes prison only to shoot a woman in the stomach and rape her. Now imagine that he kidnaps her father, strips him naked, and torture him physically as well as mentally by showing him the pictures of his daughter slowly dying while being rapped. You might be asking what horror movie this is from? It is actually from a wildly popular comic book called â€Å"The Killing Joke†. Although appearing to be childish, comic books show many adult themes such as violence, gore, and pornography, thereby making them unsuitable for children. Violence is a common theme seen in many different types of entertainment. We see it all the time in movies, T.V. shows, and video games. However, when there is violence present in comic books they tend to go beyond what we expect. It could vary from a simple punch, to a person having their brains spill out from being beaten with a barbwire bat. In comics such as Kickass 2, the antagonist kills at gunpo int four defenseless little children. He then continues to break into an apartment, kill a man, beat the man’s girlfriend, and rape her with his three friends (Meylikhov). There are so many types of entertainment available nowadays that contains violence. However, there is always some kind of bounder or line not to be crossed. Comics have not only past that line but have accelerated past it.
